NYC 1949 Death Index
The Municipal Archives recently accessioned the 1949 Death Certificate records and digitized the index volume for deaths in all five New York City boroughs.
The index is organized by surname and can be downloaded and/or searched for the certificate number to place orders.
Certificate copies (email or certified hard copy) can be ordered here.
The microfilm of the 1949 death certificates transferred to DORIS exhibits signs of significant deterioration which prohibits its use by the public.
